Gantry Robot Systems

Select or customize gantry robots with different structures as needed, with optional end effectors.

Overview

Gantry robots, also known as Cartesian robots or truss manipulators, provide precise and autonomous industrial automation solutions. They achieve linear motion and positioning within a three-dimensional cubic envelope through the X, Y, and Z axes. Gantry systems generally come in configurations such as XZ two-axis, XYZ three-axis, and XYZR four-axis structures.

The entire gantry system is composed of a high-strength structural frame made of steel or aluminum, XY-axis transmission guide rail assemblies, servo motors, cable drag chains, gear reducers, linear drive modules (with drive methods such as belts, steel cables, traction, chains, etc.), limit sensors, and other components.

Gantry robots are mainly used for automatic handling and loading/unloading, and can be applied in fields such as logistics, machining, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and automotive. Specific applications include palletizing, sorting, truck loading, loading/unloading, spraying, assembly, and more.

Our factory's gantry robot systems offer advantages such as minimal space occupation, improved work efficiency, and reduced production costs. We can provide non-standard customization based on your specific needs, flexibly assembling different configurations of gantry systems, and can also offer optional add-on features such as end effectors (grippers) and protective devices.

Core Advantages

High-Rigidity Structure
Reinforced welded steel structure + FEA optimization for minimal end deflection over long spans (>6 m) and smooth, jitter-free operation.
Modular and Expandable
Modular standard sections let you extend stroke as capacity grows, lowering the cost of future retrofits.
Full Range of Configurations
Single-arm standard / inverted, cantilever, gantry, and multi-axis gantry—covering light-duty high-speed to heavy-duty low-speed applications.
High-Precision Servo Control
Servo motor + precision reducer + full closed-loop control for repeat positioning accuracy up to ±0.05 mm.
Energy Efficiency & Safety
Regenerative energy technology (optional) cuts overall energy consumption by about 30% versus hydraulic systems; safety light curtains / laser area scanners / software limits.
End Effectors & OEM
Compatible with grippers / vacuum cups, integrates with floor rails and robots, and supports OEM production and on-site commissioning.

Frequently Asked Questions

If the production line requires long-distance, straight-line loading/unloading, a gantry robot has lower cost, more stable accuracy, and is easier to retrofit; for multi-process, complex-trajectory operations, an articulated robot offers greater flexibility. In actual production, the two can also be used together—using the gantry robot for primary handling and the articulated robot for precision machining.

The standard series supports loads from 10–500 kg; heavy-duty/non-standard models can reach 5,000 kg (5 tons). The X-axis travel can be up to tens of meters and supports standard section splicing; the Y-axis is 1–10 m, and the Z-axis is 0.5–2 m (all customizable). Specifics are confirmed based on workpiece weight, center of gravity, and site layout.

Standard handling models achieve ±0.2–±0.5 mm; high-assembly/precision machining models can achieve ±0.05 mm. Accuracy varies with load and model, and guide rails and drive solutions can be selected according to process requirements.
